"AUTHENTIC" FAIRWAY TENNIS GRIPS by Balmforth of England |
 E.B Balmforth Ltd. of Leeds England was the manufacturer of Fairway Tennis Grips. The company consisted of a farm where they raised their own cattle and a Tannery. Production ceased in the late 90's and the land was sold for real estate development. Contrary to an Urban Legend, the shut down was not due to a Mad Cow Epidemic. No other tennis grip feels, lasts or performs like a genuine FAIRWAY Leather Grip. Fairway Scams seem to be rampant on ebay, so we must warn you "Buyer Beware". Other tennis retailers including Tennis Warehouse sell what they describe as Fairway Grips. We consider them to be "Reproduction Fairways", as they're being manufactured today, decades later by a the son of the Balmforth's, somewhere other than the Farm & Tannery (see above). If you compare these current production grips marketed as Fairways & sold by many retailers to originals made in Leeds, you will no doubt realize that they are 2 very different products, with a different feel, although they certainly are made to look exactly like the original ones. They even have the same Original Gold Fairway Gold Logo embossed on them. Tennis Menace charges considerably more, for it's ORIGINAL Fairway Grips, and for a good reason. Which Fairways do you want on your racquet? Our Fairways, were made by the original Balmforth Tannery in Leeds England in the 90's. They have been continuously stored in a temperature and humidity controlled safe. Fairways can be "Cleaned and Retackified". Request instructions when purchasing. Be aware that Fairways came in varying lengths & widths (1 inch = 25.4 millimeters). Be aware that there's no adhesive strip installed on the back of Fairway grips. Use of an 18mm Narrow Crown Staple Gun, & either rubber cement or double coated tape, is required to properly attach & stabilize them on a racquet pallet. The Gosen Sorbothane Grip System is the worlds most shock reducing racquet sports grip. It reduces the amount of shock reaching your arm through the racquet handle interface. Made of the same material, they're like a set of Dr. Scholl's Gel Insoles for your arm! Add to that, They're Permanent, & value for the price becomes obvious. The System utilizes 2 components; the Permanent Sorbothane Undergrip, & a layer or two of any overgrip or your choice. The only maintainence required of you is replacement of the outer layer of Overgrip, as you deem it is required. The Genuine Gosen Sorbothane Grip System is available only from Tennis Menace. Don't be fooled by others selling products called "GOSEN SORBOTHANE GRIP". They are BLUE & come packaged as shown in the photo below. With both Gosen and the Sorbothane Brand Name, If not, you're looking at a fake. The proper installation of the Sorbothane Grip System is a rather problematic, unless you are very familiar with the product and had experience installing them previously. The Material is not anywhere near as strong as a regular replacement grip, & they do not stretch. Even WE occasionally have problems getting them on properly, & often we must toss the one's we were trying to install and open up another. Thus, normally we will only sell them installed on racquets we sell, or racquets sent in to us for service. If you are feeling lucky and choose not to heed our warning, we will sell Grips to you, but once the packages have been opened, they are not returnable, for any reason! We're willing to guide you or your stringer through the installation process by telephone and can provide photo's of how it's properly done, however, we can't guarrantee that such installation attempts (not done by Tennis Menace) will ultimately be successful.  | |||
