"TENNIS MENACE - NOT A WAREHOUSE"

Frequently Asked Questions

1) How do I place my order?
a) You can either fill out our Online Order Form, or call us to place an order. We no longer collect CC info on the Order Form, eliminating Security Issues. If paying by another method, send us an e-mail inquiry, or fill out order form. Please read directions beforehand, so that you are aware of our terms & policies. See item #12 for details on payment methods for domestic and international sales.

2) What are the shipping costs?
a) Determined for each order & destination. We thus need the complete order as well as your complete address, to quote the cost of shipping. We do match our competitors offer of FREE domestic shipping on orders of $75.00+ (for product sold elsewhere.) EXCEPTIONS: Our Exclusive Products, Discontinued or Used Racquets, Racquets sent for Servicing, Labor, Tennis Balls, Ball Machines, Stringing Machines, Products sold at any Negotiated Pricing. The cost of the return shipping for racquets sent for Servicing does not qualify either.

We use U.S. Mail, or UPS. Depending upon the value of the shipment and where it's going. A Signature may be Required Upon Delivery. We can not ship using your shipping accounts.

3) "The price listed is the same as I see everywhere."
a) We are forced by the manufacturers to list a Minimum Advertised Price on most of their current products that we even mention on our site, the same prices you see from all other dealers selling them online. All we can say is "You won't be disappointed".

4) I do not see a price. It just says "NA", so what is the price?
a) "NA" means that the item is currently Not in stock. We continue to list it, as we may possibly be able to get them. You would simply need to ask.

5) Why is the item so expensive? "I paid less in the past".
a) The price of a specific item is based upon many factors. Availability & thus price is ultimately dependent upon supply & demand. You may inquire, if a competitor has a better price on a current product & we will see if we can make an adjusment. Discontinued items, that are no longer available from their manufacture will not necessarily be the same price now as they were in the past. These products, which can be quite rare, are often obtained from sources around the world, & our costs to acquire them can possibly be extremely high. We thus rarely negotiate prices, unless we are matching or beating a competitor.

6) I found the same racquet at a competitor, for much less. Why?
a) Most people are not aware of the little games many racquet manufactures play. Often discontinued racquets are brought back to market years after they've been discontinued. These look alike racquets are often similar in appearance only. The spec's & manufacturing tolerances and even the overall design of these racquet's structures can be in many cases entirely different. Unfortunately this done by most of the major racquet manufactures.

It would be honest of companies such as Prince, Wilson, & Head to inform you, their loyal customers, that they are being offered products that may be different from originals. However do not hold your breath waiting for that to happen. To them it's just business. We do not normally sell any of these re-issue racquets. Everything we offer for sale, is original. Obviously, if you find the same item for less somewhere else, we may be willing adjust the price. All we need to know is which of our competitors ia beating our price.

7) What grip sizes are available?
a) We list the grip sizes, on discontinued & used racquets in most cases. If a size is not listed, please contact us. Current models are available in all of the grip sizes that the manufacture produces it in. Sizes are 0=4", 1= 4 1/8, 2= 4 1/4, 3= 4 3/8, 4= 4 1/2 5= 4 5/8. (in rare cases 6=4 3/4. We abreviate by our listing sizes: 0, 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4. Sizes can easily be increased by 1 size, but & we do not advise more than a 2 size increase. In some cases, grip sizes can be reduced. Some racquets can also have their grips replaced via the installation of Brand New Pallets.

8) What is the condition of the racquet listed?
a) All our racquets are Brand New, unless otherwise indicated. A condition legend with our detailed explanation of the racquet condition differences, is located close to the top of the racquets page. We don't sell used racquets that have been structuraly damaged in any way. Other than their having some cosmetic issues, all used racquets are like they were brand new. There are no cracks, no wear to the racquets graphite material, no damaged grommets, nothing! We meticulously check each racquet. We're highly aware of the damage that racquets can endure they are subjected to high heat, such as being stored in a hot automobile. If they are not 100% perfect, we do not sell them. We have a impeccable reputation to maintain.

9) What are your policies pertaining to stringing?
a) See our string page for info on the 500+ strings available and the cost of stringing labor.

10) Why should I get my racquet strung by Tennis Menace?
Tennis stringing is both a Science and an Art. The experience & the know how of racquet stringers varies, just like that of a Doctor. If you don't care that much about how well your racquet gets strung, which may directly influence how well it performs, as well as how the strings hold up, get it strung by just anyone. If you desire peak performance from your racquet, as well as the best durability your racquet and string combination can deliver, it should be strung by someone who really cares. If we didn't do a better job, how could we expect you to be a repeat customer? All racquets are strung by owner Howard Matthews. I have over 49 years of racquet sales and stringing experience & hold a U.S.R.S.A. Master Racquet Technician Certification, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from the City University of New York, wih my education in Engineering starting @ the highly prestigious Brooklyn Technical High School. All those years working behind a stringing machine as well as my educational background result in my realizing how to take those extra steps do do a more thorough and accurate job, and your getting a stringing That will outperform that of the competition. For additional info on issues pertaining to racquet stringing, read both our Info page as well as the detailed info in my book, the title of which is aptly named

"Everything You've Always Wanted to Know About Tennis String *(but were Afraid to Ask)"

11) What are Grommets & why are they so important?
a) Grommets which also include the Headguard are the little plastic tubes each of the strings go though as they pass through the racquet frame. Grommets protect the strings from being damaged by the sharp edges of the string holes & protect the racquet from any damage by the garrote like effect of the tensioned string. The "Headguard / Bumperguard" protects the racquet from abrasion due to the racquet coming into contact with the court surface. If your racquet does not have fully intact grommets, it can't be strung properly. See our Grommets page

12) What forms of payment do you normally accept?
a) U.S. customers;VENMO, U.S. issued Visa, MC, Discover, American Express, Paypal (with Restrictions), U.S. Postal Money Orders.

b) Outside the U.S., American Express?, International Postal Money Orders?, Western Union Wires, Bank Account or Balance Funded Paypal, or Bank Wires (Additional fee's may apply). All in U.S.D.!

13) Will you ship to a location other than billing address?
a) Yes!, if your Credit Card issuer has alternate "ship to info" on file, and is willing to verify that information, when we contact them. If your card issuer will not verify, then we can't do it.

14) Why will you only ship to a verified address?
a) We do this to protect you!, as well as US against credit card fraud. Anyone who ever had access to your card, has all the info needed to place an order using the card #, exp. date & security code, to order goods and have them shipped wherever they want. While you wouldn't be liable it would still create a nuisance for you as well as a chargback for US the merchant. Tennis Menace has never had any fraudulent transactions, due to our being extra careful. Note the following: The name and address on file with your card issuer must match the name and address you provide to us, except in cases where you are requesting we ship to someone other than the cardholder, or to alternate location. If that is the case, your card issuer must have the alternate name & or address on file and verify it with us. Please don't request for us to make an exception, in your case. We have heard every story in the book. Telling us how no other merchant has ever had this policy, or that you recently moved and have not yet had a chance to change your address is not a valid response. There are payment options that remove all risk to us, and these are viable alternatives to Credit Card payment, if you need to utilize them.

15) Why do you often require a signature upon delivery?
a) This is a requirement of your card issuer, not ours! Credit Card Issuers request a signature upon delivery when the card is not present at the point of sale, for high value orders. If you know that no one will not be available to sign for the shipment at the address we are shipping to you at, you can wait for the delivery to be attempted and then make arrangements to pick up the item from your Post Office or area UPS facility. You will have to show ID and sign for it there as well.

16) What are your return policies & warranties?
a) Tennis Menace is not the warrantor of the products sold. The individual manufactures warrant the goods. Often older New Racquets with plastic on the grip, will have issues when that old plastic film is removed, in some cases destroying the grip, as it sticks to the film. We are not responsible for any such damage, & obviously could not know if it would happen without removing that plastic. Contact the manufacture & inquire as to having the grip replaced under their NEW Racquet Warranty. Once product has been used, all warranties are dealt with by the manufacture. We'll assist you if desired. In some cases manufactures are no longer in business, so there are no longer any warrantees in place.

b) We accept returns on a case by case basis, and you must obtain a Return Authorization prior to doing so. Products must be returned to us in the same condition they were in when we shipped them. Open packages, or racquets or strings that have been used, are not returnable to us for refunds. Restocking fees may apply when goods are returned to us. You will be informed of any such restocking fee's along with your receiving Authorization to Return. If "TENNIS MENACE" made the error, we will make you whole again. We may be willing to buy back products that have been used, AT OUR DISCRETION.

You are asked if you have read & agree to these policies when you place order on our Order Form. You will again be asked if you agree to these terms, when you provide your final approval for us to ship your order. You will thus have twice agreed to these terms before we ship your order!
